Stress Reduction Workshop: East Meets West

East meets West: combining principles of yoga asana and philosophy with Western therapeutic techniques to increase stress tolerance and anxiety management skills.

As the pace of our lives continue to increase at unprecedented rates, more and more people are feeling overwhelmed and burnt out. Are you experiencing symptoms of anxiety like sleeplessness, digestive disorders, headaches, high blood pressure, or heart disease? The good news is that there are a number of strategies to help you manage these symptoms. 

In this workshop we will combine the complementary benefits from yoga and western psychotherapeutic techniques to improve our ability to manage stress. 

Using breathing exercises, gentle asana, and mindfulness-based psychology we will begin to develop our own stress management plan to bring balance to the nervous system and work to calm our minds. 

Beginners, as well as those with previous yoga experience will benefit from this workshop. 

Participants can expect to learn: 

• Physical yoga postures and movement techniques that enable deep rest and relaxation and help release tension. 

• Practical and accessible meditation techniques. 

• Education on anxiety, the physiological symptoms of anxiety, and the nervous system. 

• Cognitive behavioral techniques to help participants learn to control their anxious thoughts 

• Safe and effective breathing and meditation techniques 

• Optional: essential oil 

Participants in this training will: 

• Develop a personal and customized plan for anxiety management 

• Understand the connection between the biological, social and psychological aspects of anxiety. 

• Leave with concrete meditation and breathing techniques to practice on their own

Amy DeFilippi has more than 20 years’ combined experience as a a psychotherapist and a yoga instructor.. Amy is passionate about helping people manage their anxiety and depressive symptoms by building a greater understandingof the mind body connection.
